  After looking at the rates online for Dougies Backpackers we wanted to take advantage of their $75 per room per night for the private double room. There is no immediate booking feature on their website and we needed a room fairly soon. They use a third party website HostelWorld as a booking agent and those rates were $82, didnt want to be skimped so i simply rang Dougies direct and inquired if they rooms available, which they did and he said to " Come to the bar and we can help you out" as it was 7pm. Upon arriving the man informed us it would be $75 PER PERSON. We showed him the Dougies website that stated the price was per room and he adamantly refused to acknowledge this. There was also a sign in the entry way stating that the rate was $75 per room. I also got the same information from other websites. Dude, if your rate was $75 per person per night wouldnt we just go to the Mantra or Ramada for the same price? What annoyed us the most is that he flat out refused to even double check the rate. We left in disbelief, all we wanted was a quick bed for the night. Dougies is located very far out of the main part of Port Douglas. Anyway we ventured into the township and found Global Backpackers right on the main street, a double private room for guess how much? $75 per room per night. Guy at Dougies was a complete timewaster. Ive attached some photos of the third party booking site and the dougies website with said rates stated.

  The bar is great, cheap food and drink, rooms good aside from ants, however the kitchen is disgusting, always full of bugs and mess. Some creepy men around aswell

  Booked a spot for a camper van, so can't describe some of the other accommodation (there are prepitched tents, rooms and little cabins for rent). Powered pitches are available and there is a kitchen, a licensed bar with food a swimming pool and well maintained toilet blocks. A brilliant friendly atmosphere made this a nice place to stay for a couple of nights

  This place is beautiful and the stuff is very nice. Also, the atmosphere is very relaxing. You'll definitely feel welcome and comfortable here.
